Gary called the meeting to order.
Lucy opened the meeting with prayer.
Treasurer’s report: $851.43
Karen read the past month’s minutes.
There was an article on hive beetles in the last Bee Culture
magazine.
U-line is a supplier for plastic jars and lids.
We
had a discussion about various pros and cons of different
types and sizes of jars.
Palm honey tends to crystallize quicker than other honey.
Nectar with a higher sugar content crystallize quicker.
5
gallons of honey weighs 60 #.
Prep hives for winter by reducing space to 1 hive body and a
feeder. This will reduce the size of space that the bees need
to defend from bugs.
Store empty frames in a greenhouse exposed to sunlight. This
will help keep bugs out.
Chickens help control bugs around hives. Nematodes also help.
OJ
is going to 8 frame hives to lessen the weight he needs to
lift.
We
then had a meal of fried fish, chicken and sides.
