QUEEN’S CASTLE BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION MEETING

August 29, 2015

Prior to the meeting we:

1.       Inspected 3 hives in Gary’s apiary.

2.       Had a demonstration of oxalic acid treatment for varroa mites.

3.       Had a demonstration on wax cleaning.

4.       Had a demonstration on candle making.

5.       Had a demonstration on lotion making.

Gary called the meeting to order.

Lucy Blount led us in prayer.

Karen read the minutes from the July meeting.

Treasury report:  As of 8/29/15 bank balance was $864.93.

Old business:

WCNI in Andalusia wants someone to do a beekeeping spot on the radio. Gary will contact.

The AL Beekeepers Annual meeting registration forms were distributed.

New business:

There will be no September meeting due to the AL annual meeting.

The completed beginner beekeeper booklets were discussed and distributed.  Randy will try to provide a version on the website.

There was no info available yet on the website for the AL annual meeting in September.

Gary asked that information on swarm capture be collected – person collecting the swarm, size of swarm, location, where was the swarm, had the bees been sprayed with chemical.

We also wish to start a list of suppliers for essential oils.  So far we have:

We had a raffle for door prizes.

We then had a meal of ham, lasagna, hot dogs, various side dishes and desert.

Our next meeting will be 10/31 @ Lucy’s and OJ’s.
