Gary Barrow welcomed everyone

We have $789.93.
Some of the members had
received their bees from Millie Bee.
Randy Shaffer had gotten his
bees to start his new hives.
For $15,Tractor Supply has a
bag of pollination seed that will plant about 200 feet.
Bayer Aspirin has free
pollinator seed they are giving away, so if anyone is
interested they can check online.
The discussion about splits
was: If you don't want to take off any more honey, you
can go ahead and do splits now, and till the last of June.
John Sansom is the Bee Supply
person in Flomaton. He has the Beetle Baffle, which is for
hive beetles, for sale .

There should be one bee hive
per garden.
Mr. OJ has 50 bee hives now .
On his bee hive he
has a window in the back so you can see the bees working. He
also has a 4" front porch on his bee hive, where a lot of the
bees stay. The bees on the front porch will help keep all the
insects out of his
hive.
The popcorn trees are blooming
now.
The Vitex will be blooming in
about 2 weeks, and bloom for about 3 months .
Goldenrod is good for pollen
and nectar.
Sharon ask: How do you know
when the buckwheat is dry, and what do you do to it then?
When you see black seeds on
them, they are dry.
You can then cut them down with
the bush hog, and then run over it with a disc.
The Queen's Castle Beekeeper's
Association can now be found on Facebook. Randy urged
everyone to go online, and post something about their own
beekeeping experiences.
Gary Barrow then showed and
talked about the items you should have in your bee tool box .
After a delicious meat the
group then went to the honey house and watched OJ extract
several frames of honey.
