Mrs. Lucy
opened the meeting by welcoming everyone, Since we had some new
faces there,
everyone
then introduced themselves.
Mrs. Lucy
talked about the State Convention that was recently held in
Montgomery, Alabama. She said the convention next year would be held
on the
last
weekend in September in Clanton, Alabama. And you might want to
begin
planning
now if you want to enter the Honey Baked Goods Contest for next
year.
If anyone
is interested in going to the district meeting, it will be at the
Northview
. School
in Walnut Hill, Florida.
Donna
Blair reported we had $225.69 in the bank. And she was to check with
Harold
Barns about the $100 deposit she thought we were to get back from
the
Expo.
Don Helton
commented on the club shirts the members had talked about having
made. He
said he thought he could get the embroidery done for $5.00 a shirt.
Donna and
Vicky are to check into the prices of the shirts and the price of
getting
the club's
logo put on them. The logo will be the same one our club caps have
on
them.
Mr. OJ.
talked about the 1/4"x 6" entrance he has on his hives, and that the
bottom
lime tray was located 2" below the bottom of the hive. He also
talked
about the
different flowers that were now blooming and how important it was to
have
something blooming all year for the bees .
Several
members reported on how their hives were doing, and talked about
their
experiences on catch ing
swarms.
The
Kiwanis Club of Andalusia had recently invited Mr. and Mrs. Blount
to come
and speak
at their meeting held at Tabby D's. Mrs. Lucy showed pictures of the
meeting
and presentation they gave.
She also
showed pictures of the booth they had at the Covington County Fair.
The
members went outside to clean out the lime trays in Mrs.
OJ's
hives. They
also
examined the trays to see what was in each one.
Donna
Blair gave a demonstration on how to make lotion bars. She also
explained
how to
change just a few ingredients in the receipt to make insect
